Course Description

Beekeeping and Technology

Apiculture, or beekeeping, is an ancient practice that has evolved over the years, and technology has played a significant role in modernizing and improving various aspects of beekeeping.

The most significant agricultural tasks in beekeeping involve continually observing the conditions inside and outside the beehive. Smart sensor systems are being developed for real-time and long-term measurement of relevant parameters related to beehive conditions, such as the hive weight, sounds emitted by the bees, temperature, humidity, and CO2 inside the beehive, as well as external weather conditions.

Integrating technology into beekeeping practices can help beekeepers better understand and manage their colonies, improve efficiency, and mitigate risks to bee health.
